A GREAT BRAND

begins with a great name

Company and product names grounded in strategy, tested for memorability, and cleared for trademark.

A great brand or company name needs to be a talented multi-tasker. It has to be memorable, meaningful, and available.

Whether you’re launching a product or a business, I develop names that are sharp, distinctive, and ownable. Names that fit the brand and lodge in the mind.

My process applies creative thinking, strategic positioning, and trademark reality-checking. The result is names that nail the sweet spot between being clear and being clever.

NAMING PROJECTS

Mura Technology

The brief

Devise the name for an Australian technology company that has pioneered a groundbreaking method to recycle plastic into high-quality chemicals and oils. The name should reflect a focus on exceptional sustainability and environmental innovation.

The solution

Inspired by the “Good Spirit” in the creation story of the Australian Diyari people, Mura Technology refers to the company’s Australian roots and the sustainable future the technology was created to deliver. The name captures the sense of a company working towards a new dawn for clean energy,

Nomii

The brief

A range of slings and cross-body bags had outgrown The Healthy Back Bag Brand and needed a name of its own to reach a young, metropolitan audience. It had to carry the nomadic spirit of the product and be ownable in its own right.

The solution

Nomii. The doubled i makes it distinctive and searchable, and the name proved generative enough to become the brand line. Go Easy. Go Nomii.

Prokey

The brief

Name an organisation offering a vaccine service to professionals, key workers and volunteers.

The solution

Prokey communicates the core concept of protection for key workers, whilst alluding to the organisation’s Scottish heritage through the sound of the word. Inventing a word enabled ownership.

Find a name.
Define your future.

My brand and product naming process starts by mapping out territories with a list of possible options each different direction.

The strongest candidates will come with a clear rationale, and be checked for trademark and domain availability before they reach you. Then we narrow down to the perfect name.

If your naming journey has run out of steam, I would love to help.
